LONDON FASHION WEEK : Topshop Unique SS12

Topshop Unique are always good for a trend or three. Last season it was dalmation print - this year, Egypt. Clearly someone was inspired by Liz Taylor in Cleopatra - not just because her face takes pride of place on the front of a jumper - but the lines, the graphics, the colors and the lashings of gold on the pieces also screams Egypt! It's great though, whoever Topshop Unique have designing, their team is spot on. I'm always excited by their stuff, even if some of it takes a while to grow on me! Normally I can see a few pieces I would definately wear and I always remember their shows!
It was strange though. Just as I, using a slow internet connection, had given up the collection for black and gold only, a brilliant burst of red convinced me to keep viewing. Even if it took hours! Stupid slow connection! Anyway, the show seemed to be split into sections, black and gold, red and metallics and then turquoise and gold at the end, and what a turquoise! I don't know if it's the gold that makes the blue seem brighter or the other way around. But either way the end result is quite a shock to the system!
It's the best part of the collection, which I have to say I enjoyed more this season then last. I wasn't a massive fan of the dalmation print pieces. I thought some of them were a bit......off.

It's not clear if the harness is attached to the dress or is seperate. Either way - gorgeous.

Just incase you missed where they got the inspiration from! Not to mention that TU always throw one or two commerical pieces in there. The ones you can see selling immediately. I WANT that Liz Taylor jumper badly!!!!! I can see it over some leggings with ankle boots or with a furry jacket!
The only red piece I included. I thought the red stood out from the black, blue and gold pieces. Not sure if it was in a good way. I full on hate that metallic skirt or trousers - hard to see which it is, but I know I hate the fabric!
There is something quite 80s about that print for me. I don't know why! But still, TU always make a fantastic show stopping dress and a few fantastic day dresses. It's always been the dresses that have impressed me. I can remember seasons back the shapes, colors and prints which have left a lasting impression on my memory!
I love these but I can see them being a difficult choice for anyone over a size 12! Still though....
